ContractSr. Camera Imaging Lab Engineer / 164117

Contract Location: Santa Clara, CA

Contract Duration: up to 18 months

Remote Position: NO

Project Description : We are in the process of build up an imaging lab for mobile platform camera component image quality evaluation, and we need a veteran camera imaging / IQ to set up equipment, conduct IQ testing and automate sensor / module characterization / IQ measurement process.

The tasks are two levels as shown below; sensor and module level, and we would like to measure both. Both level need raw image capture. For module level, a simple ISP conversion to colorimetric space before running such as cpiq metrics (or Imatest) is needed. No ISP tuning for full rendering image is required at this stage (level 3)

Sensor-level testing: this includes measuring fundamental metrics like noise, conversion gain, full-well capacity, dynamic range, resolutions, dark current, cross-talk, lag etc. To do this type of testing one needs access to raw image data.

System-level or Module-level testing: Here one tries to extract metrics from fully-rendered color images. These are typically 8-bitx 3 color plane images. The CPIQ (Camera Phone Image Quality working group of the IEEE) has developed a set of targets and metrics to measure image quality for 'rendered images'. This would be one way to go. Alternately one could develop their own set of metrics in terms of saturation, color-fidelity, resolution, lens corrections etc.

If the qualified candidate is an expert in both levels, it would be perfect, but we will also consider a candidate who is an expert on one level.

Daily Responsibilities:
Set up the lab equipment of mobile camera phone image quality (IQ) measurement

Handle on camera imaging IQ measurement, equipment system setup, optical measurement system setup

Conduct mobile camera phone IQ measurement, sensor / module / system levels

Write IQ report

Develop imager sensor IQ calibration tools / Develop IQ measurement automation tools

Necessary skills required :
Must have hands-on experience

Mobile camera components imaging

IQ evaluation lab experience

Additional skills desired:
Expert Lab setup/support skills; very hands-on to set up imaging lab for measurement

Advanced Lab Management skills

IQ tools, e.g. Imatest, CMOS sensor, lens, camera module IQ, basic image processing and camera ISP pipeline understanding, color science, camera image quality benchmark.

Full automation skills

HOW TO APPLY: If you are qualified and interested, please reference the contract title AND location AND send your resume in WORD format directly to logan.callanan-attebery@formalized.com I will get back to you if I feel you could be a match for this position.
