The Sr. EHS Specialist supports the implementation of SHE management systems to ensure environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance. Promotes a safe workplace and an environmentally sustainable business.Responsibilities: Responsible for day-to-day oversight of environmental programs including the Hazardous Waste Management Program, Medical Waste Program, Industrial Wastewater Program, and Air Program.Determine priorities for safety and health investigations in manufacturing, warehouse, and laboratory work areas.Develop and assist other employees with SHE reports and recommendations independently.Review and approve engineering and testing documents for external permits and other documentation that is submitted to local jurisdiction.Interact and communicate with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, and Engineering to ensure they are meeting SHE regulatory requirements.Represent SHE on multidisciplinary project teams.Ensure that the Vacaville site is compliant with all Federal, State, local and Genentech Safety, Health and Environmental codes, regulations and policies.Ensure accidents and incidents are investigated and where necessary help with updated designs along with other procedural changes to prevent re-occurrence.Represent SHE Department with regulatory authorities, trade groups and industry on technical issues requiring SHE expertise.Determine training needs and independently develop new programs as necessary.Recognize injury and illness trends and work to resolve these.Provide input to engineers for development or improvement of engineering controls.Who You AreRequirements: BSin Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field requiredMinimum of 5+ years of manufacturing industry experience in Safety, Health and EnvironmentalDemonstrated working knowledge and complete understanding of federal, state and local laws and requirements (i.e. Cal/OSHA, Cal/EPA, DTSC, CUPA)ASP/CSP certification or other EHS certification desiredExcellent interpersonal communication skills and has a broad range of technical expertise to solve difficult issues.Ability to work under limited direction and guidance with general instruction on new assignments.Well developed planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize activities and meet commitmentsWritten and verbal communication capability to effectively inform and influence management, individual contributors, trade groups and regulatory agencies.Proficient with Microsoft Office tools with experience in SAP.Knowledge of ISO 14001 management system or similar SHE management systems.Ability to utilize approaches that require innovation and change.Proactively support and or leas SHE initiatives that support the business.Strong networking skills and ability to lead diverse groups.
