General Summary: The Desktop Systems Engineer is a technical professional who provides discipline-specific or system-specific engineering support on client systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes. Is responsible for helping build and support desktops and tools that streamline business processes and enhance productivity. Works under the supervision of Technical Architect or detailed projects designed to support business initiatives or solve engineering problems. Serves on a team tasked with providing desktop technical solutions and support.

This is a 6 month contract opportunity with an hourly rate of $45/hr. Essential Duties:  Participate in project definition and design activities where desktop deployments may be involved.  Participate in desktop component and system testing and integration.  Create custom software packages.

 Deploy software to a variety of clients.  Maintain and troubleshoots MDT imaging environment. Capabilities:  Hands-on experience and demonstrated expertise in supporting desktop technology.  A good understanding of Microsoft OS, desktop images and deployment tools.

 Familiarity and experience with integrating desktops with other technical components and peripherals.  Experience with software packaging tools (Wise Package Studio or similar).  Experience with software deployment tools (Symantec Management Platform or similar) is a plus. Complexity:  Strong analytic, interpersonal and communications skills.

 Good problem-solving abilities.  Self-motivated and capable of working in a deadline-oriented environment. Qualifications: Combination of education and experience, generally acquired through the attainment of education and experience indicated by business line. Required for consideration: • 2 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • 2 - 3 years professional experience in supporting desktop (Microsoft OS) technology. • A good understanding of Microsoft OS. • Customized packaging experience and solid understanding of transforms, VB scripting, and software deployment • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with IT and business customers. Highly desirable candidates will also have several, but not necessarily all of the following:  Experience developing, deploying and managing desktop images.
 4 year degree in Technology, Computer Science or related technology.  Appropriate Microsoft OS certification.  A good understanding of desktop applications (e.g. MS Office " Visio).
