This opportunity is for a Design Engineer to work directly for a client in Southern Louisiana. In this position, you will develop new crane designs and improve older designs in order to expand company product line and capabilities. The emphasis of this role will be on structural analysis, conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA). To accomplish this, you will develop crane conceptual designs including new structural and hydraulic systems; analyze research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal; and confer with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design. You will prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or system; and plan and develop experimental test programs. You will analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications; confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required; and evaluate engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses. You will also use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks, including Inventor, AutoCAD, and ANSYS; provide technical sales support to sales representatives, contract administrators, project managers and engineers; provide technical customer support; and work in a team environment with drafting department on special design projects. - BS in Mechanical Engineering. Five to ten years experience in Design engineering.
- Previous experience in a heavy fabrication environment.
- Experience with FEA, ANSYS preferred, and with 3D drafting software, Inventor preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced mathematical capabilities and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
