The Sr. Academic Support Professional is responsible to the Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs in the operations and management of the College of Nursing Office of Clinical Affairs. Independent judgment is required in the position, which collaborates with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in administration and oversight of College of Nursing Practice clinical placements and site evaluations.

This multi-faceted position responsibilities include the:
  • Formulation, analysis and evaluation of options for clinical placements;
  • Facilitation of communication and resolution of practice placement issues between the office and various publics;
  • Management of clinical placement contracts and evaluative data;
  • Oversight of daily operations within the office as they relate to placements.
    This position represents the Associate Dean and the school on various school and campus committees and with hospitals education offices throughout metro Denver and the state as well. Position reports to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and works closely with option coordinators and program directors in the College of Nursing.

    Posting Description
    Specific job duties may include:

    GRADUATE FUNCTIONS :
    Faculty
    • Participate in MS/ DNP faculty meetings
    • Support specialty coordinators in recruitment of new preceptors and placement sites
    • Main point of contact/management for Typhon, clinical tracking system (graduate students only)
    • Attend individual specialty meetings as requested by faculty
    • Collaborate on development of consistent evaluation method
    Students
    • Placement of all MS level students or support of placement
    • Main point of contact/management for Typhon, clinical tracking system (graduate students only)
    • Develop all materials as they relate to graduate level placement
    • Manage student sign up in faculty practice sites
    • Provide student support as needed
    Agency/Preceptor
    • Perform needs assessment regarding educational needs of preceptors
    • Conduct and/or coordinate educational programming for preceptors
    • Develop relationships with preceptor/faculty by meeting with them individually
    • Conduct off site meetings/site visits for preceptor relationship improvement
    • Develop all materials as they relate to graduate level placement
    • Provide evaluative feedback to preceptors/clinical sites
    OTHER :
    • Creation and maintenance of all Affiliation Agreements for Clinical Education
    • Develop and manage a system for evaluation of clinical sites for all Programs.
    • Coordinate with staff and other constituents to ensure appropriate and timely data collection.
    • Ensure adherence to criteria with Associate Dean and faculty regarding class/clinical evaluation tools utilized to analyze the evaluation process to ensure appropriate faculty and student evaluations of clinical agencies as well as monitoring and evaluation of clinical agency contracts and affiliation agreements.
    • Manage the clinical placements and the student/clinical training agreements including fiscal analysis and implication
    • Establish criteria, review, develop and implement new policies where required to meet the changing circumstances of the Office of Clinical Placements as related to student/clinical training agreements. Analyze and select the most appropriate alternative to achieve objectives.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate procedures for providing accurate and timely statistical data on the Office of Clinical Placement to all constituencies by identifying and correcting database errors and promoting appropriate use of source.
    • Act as lead worker with administrative team in the creation and refinement of database development and the paper and computerized filing systems for the Office of Clinical Placement, determining process and design to assure smooth operations
    • Execute additional duties as determined by operational requirements and responsibilities of the Office of the Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs.
    • Management and Operation of clinical practice education, including:
    • Clinical training needs for advanced practice students;
    • Management and oversight of College of Nursing student clinical agreements;
    • Management of data to facilitate preparation of evaluations for clinical sites and data for grant reports;
    • Utilization of Microsoft Office (Word, Access).
    • Conduct meetings as necessary for department
    • Ongoing projects as they relate to increasing placement capacity, placement initiatives, office efficiency, outside relations
    • Policy implementation oversight
    • Participate in meetings, focus groups, committees as necessary

      Minimum Qualifications
      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
      • Licensure as a registered nurse, advanced practice standing within the State of Colorado, certification within an advanced practice specialty
      • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an academic setting

      • Broad knowledge of University policies and procedures
      • Ability to analyze and synthesize data
      • Knowledge of academic program planning and evaluation
      • Ability to work effectively within higher education and with personnel in outside arenas

      Desired Qualifications
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
      • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
      • Experience in the University of Colorado system
