Accountant I - Project (ACT 1)
Assists general ledger accounting staff with daily and monthly duties. The position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and help prepare Agency reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Reconcile bank accounts, receivable accounts and donor donations so that the cash position of these accounts matches the bank statement
*Enter cash receipts, ACH, credit card transactions, and journal entries into accounting software on a daily basis
*Reconcile inter-company accounts monthly and enter inter-company Accounts Payable
*Investigate significant budget to actual variances
*Update and maintain designated databases with cash and other information to ensure accurate accounting
*Prepare special reports based on approved financial statements and database records and assist with distribution of such statements. This may include year-end audit work
*May be required to maintain various company databases
* Two-year certificate in accounting or Associate of Arts degree with strong background in accounting
* 2 years of experience in accounting desired
* Knowledge of Great Plains software preferred
*Thorough knowledge of personal computer software systems
* Intermediate skills in Word and Excel
*Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
