The Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining and analyzing data related to the financial performance of the organization and individual departments. The Analyst is also responsible for compiling and reporting information as requested by Financial Accounting, Internal Audit and management. Other responsibilities include the assistance with annual operating budgets and maintenance of a monthly dashboard of key indicators and eternal benchmarks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management and Operational Reporting:
' Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the department
' Prepares deposits for clinical accounts
' Reviews monthly revenue and expenditures across all departmental cost centers
' Produces monthly financial reports for manager/director, to include monthly report of expenditures, transfer of funds from various support centers
2. Account Maintenance and Reconciliation
' Reconciles various JV transfers for departmental cost centers
' Develops and maintains procedures for reconciliation process
' Interacts with all levels of personnel within the department, other institutional departments, as well as outside companies to resolve problems/errors or questions regarding basic accounting reconciliation items
3. Grant and Contracts Management
' Provides information to investigators on their post-award grant activities and assists in tracking and reconciling grant accounts
' Prepares spreadsheets, budget variance reports and reconciliation reports for departmental cost centers as needed
' Provides assistance to investigators by ensuring funds are spent in accordance with federal guidelines and in compliance with NIH policies
' Prepares grant and contract budget proposals, or participates in their preparations as needed
' Oversees the department's financial files for all grant funding
' Performs audit review of grants as requested
' Verifies all faculty, staff and research personnel are charged to correct grant sources
' Coordinates any grant expense transfers
' Assists with any departmental needs as required, to include special financial and research reports
' Oversees organizations and maintenance of departmental files relating to fiscal and budgetary responsibilities and reports.
' Special projects as needed
' Good organization skills and ability to multi-task
' Communicate effectively at various levels within the organization
' Candidate should be able to work independently and with little supervision
BBA, BS or BA with a major in Accounting, or related degree is required.
Requires three to five years financial analysis experience in health care, insurance and/or business industry

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
' Experience with Excel and Access software.
' Strong analytical and database skills.
' Ability to analyze and manipulate data and financial reports to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the organization.
' Familiar with the managed care environment and have a good understanding of managed care reimbursement methodologies and terms.
' Must be detail oriented and should be able to develop an understanding of the data import/reimbursement calculation process as designed in-house as well as through third-party vendor software programs
