Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for a part-time 12 month/25 hours a week grant-funded ACT 101 Counselor .
The ACT 101 Counselor coordinates counseling of Act 101 students (academic, personal and career counseling) and maintains liaison contact between admissions, faculty, financial aid and the Act 101 Program.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining educational advisement records of all students in the Act 101 Program; students enrolled in current semester, and students who have stopped out or are inactive for the semester; Prepare an Individualized Student Academic Plan (ISAP) for each student; Conduct advisement sessions for Act 101 students during registration periods; Use the student’s academic advisement program CAPP to choose an appropriate and workable course load each semester; Be available to meet with all Act 101 students, by appointment and on a needed basis, at least four times a semester to follow students’ academic progression; While maintaining student records, determine which students need tutoring or remedial instruction and assist them in securing this support; Work with the Tutorial Coordinator to determine student compliance with tutoring sessions; Send Progress Report requests to faculty for all courses in which Act 101 students are enrolled; Meet with students to disclose the results of their progress reports and discuss appropriate academic actions to improve their situation; Maintain contact with students who are not on campus during office hours (evening class, attending other college sites, or presently inactive for the semester); Participate in the recruiting process (review test scores for eligibility and acceptance into the Act 101 Program) and contact potential students to explain summer bridge program requirements and expectations; Prepare and present an orientation for students enrolled in the seven-week Summer Bridge Program; Conduct bi-weekly group sessions during summer bridge program; Administration of various inventories (LASSI, Myers-Briggs and COPS) to determine personality and learning preferences to promote academic success; Perform other duties as assigned.
