The Preuss School is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As part of UCSD, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban students for college admission.

Under general supervision, process applications for admission and approve or deny admissions based on established application requirements. Responsible for administrative aspects of planning for Admissions and Outreach. Plan and participate in off-campus outreach and recruitment programs and activities. Coordinate large events including student enrollment and orientation. Coordinate and facilitate the English Language Learner Program including testing, follow-up and intervention. Respond to telephone, in-person, e-mail, and mail inquiries regarding admissions and application status. Post and verify data in computerized information system. Advise teachers, staff and parents on admissions policy and procedures.

Flexible work schedule and ability to occasionally work overtime.

Weekend work schedule required during peak period.


Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English, both verbal and written.

Ability to make public presentations in Spanish.

Experience as an administrative assistant in an office or school setting and experience organizing events and meetings.

Experience in the correct use of English grammar, punctuation, formatting and spelling sufficient to compose clear and concise correspondence, notes, and newsletter articles.

Word processing skills web-based applications and various software applications such as Microsoft office products. Proven ability to use complex information databases.

Strong communication skills with ability to interpret policies and procedures, disseminate information accurately, and communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively by telephone and in person.

Proven experience working effectively and sensitively with persons from diverse backgrounds.

Skill in organizing and prioritizing high volume of work with strict attention to detail and meeting deadlines during peak periods while responding to divergent pressures and while working in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Must pass background (Live Scan) and TB (Tuberculosis) test.
