Responsibilities:
  • Presents food and beverage menus, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and beverage service.
  • Writes order on check or memorizes it.
  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Garnishes and decorates food and beverage dishes preparatory to serving.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal or beverages have been completed.
  • Totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to Cashier.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
  • Performs opening and closing side work as prescribed by outlet manager or supervisor.
  • Employs active upselling techniques during every ordering opportunity.

Other:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

General Skills Description

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Capable of earning certification as a safe food handler and also certification as responsible beverage vendors.

Must be 18 years of age or older to perform this job.
