This position is responsible for the integrity of domestic and international financial databases, ensuring timely and accurate integration of third party data and managing and communicating corporate and capital actions applied throughout the databases. These responsibilities include performing pre-feed and corporate action analysis, feed and database validation, production and post-production quality control.
Candidates for the Securities Data Analyst position must demonstrate the financial data expertise and analytical skills necessary to independently interpret terms and conditions of corporate actions (mergers, spin-offs, and reorganizations) and integrate them with other data sets in S&P CapitalIQ databases. The position requires familiarity with global financial markets, as well as market data analysis concepts related to dividends, total return, and price fluctuations.
Candidates must have experience in database quality management, or equivalent job experience. Significant experience performing financial data research is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with the S&P domestic and international databases, or other similar relational databases. A bachelor degree is required, preferably in business administration, finance, accounting, and/or information sciences.
This position requires the ability to work both independently, and in a small team environment. The incumbent will make critical decisions without supervision, at times after standard business hours, which directly affect clients and the S&P CapitalIQ budget. This requires a strong work ethic, excellent judgment, and the ability to work under pressure. Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects, are critical to effectively manage heavy and diverse workloads.
Candidates must be technically proficient in Microsoft Word and Word, and be proficient with internet search engines (i.e., Google, Yahoo, etc). Experience with SQL is highly preferred. The candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to effectively manage relationships with strategic third party data providers and internal S&P clients, as well as support and operational staff, concerning critical activities involving the management of the database.
