Animal Technician for Police Mounted Patrol Unit Duties include:
Clean horse stalls, horse trailers, all facilities/ areas associated with the mounted barn (storage units, tack room, arena, water trough and horse walker)
Order, receive, and inventory supplies and feed
Feed, water, groom, and care for horses
Transport horses to and from veterinary office as needed
General Monitor maintenance / repair and other duties designated by Mounted Patrol Supervisor
Monitor daily sign in log and direct the work of Community Service Workers performing cleaning tasks at the facility.
Skills / Requirements
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate or higher educational attainment PLUS at least one (1) year of experience in caring for horses, maintaining barns and stables required.
Must be able to operate a tractor with a front end loader, wheel disc and various other equipment on a daily / weekly basis, as needed.
Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required.
Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous year, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years.
No misdemeanor convictions Class B or above in the last three (3) years. No felony convictions in the last ten (10) years.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS: City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.
Selected applicant will be required to pass a background investigation, polygraph and drug screen prior to hire.
