Minimum Education and Experience:

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding Program. The hiring salary for this position is $80,021-$88,593, and the salary grade equivalent for is 81. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ POSITION DESCRIPTION: The North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (TraCS) was formed in January 2007 to serve as the academic home for the University's Clinical and Translational Sciences Award (CTSA), an NIH funded grant funded in May 2008. The Institute has over 300 employees across the UNC campus, including hire of 75 joint faculty located not only in the School of Medicine, but in various other Schools. This position will design, develop, implement, and maintain data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) components to support complex data integration needs associated with a large-scale health data warehouse. Position will provide ongoing ETL maintenance and support. Position will utilize vendor and internally developed tools to identify and resolve data accuracy and integration performance problems. Position will also assist with the design and implementation of logical and physical databases. Expertise is needed in scoping data integration projects in terms of length of time, competencies and cost. Work efforts will be both independent and with team members within TraCS, the Health Care System, and other teams / departments across the campus. Interactions will also be with technical project managers, technical data warehouse team designers, other business consultants and the user community of the TraCS resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in installation, configuration and support of Infosphere would be added qualifications. Experience with Health Care related data. At least 4 years progressive education and/or experience in database support in a DB2 environment on z/OS, Unix, and/or Windows is preferred. If the candidate has limited experience, but has a Master's degree in Information Science or will secure a Master's degree in Information Science in 2013, the degree will be substituted for the experience. Technical experience and knowledge of financial, analytical, and data mining best practices, concepts, and procedures are desired. Progressive education and/or experience in database support in a DB2 environment on z/OS, Unix, and/or Windows is desired. Preferred demonstrated experience with database design and specifications, performing data modeling and integration, and database support tools, including monitoring and tuning and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedure in supporting databases in a data warehouse environment. Also preferred is appropriate technical experience and knowledge of financial, analytical, and data mining best practices, concepts, and procedures; proven strong computer troubleshooting and programming skills.
