The Nurse Practitioner (APRN) will educate others about diabetes and obesity in a manner that is understandable to the public and physicians alike. The APRN in this position will partner with physicians and must play an active and positive team role. Job Responsibilities Provides clinical nutrition guidance to patients in accordance with physician orders Evaluates nutritional status and counsels accordingly Assists patients, family members, and significant others to understand and cope with diabetes and obesity, its associated life style changes and potential complications Performs client assessments that give other health care providers psychosocial information that may assist in improved education and medical care Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide service to the age of the patients served throughout the hospital
        Minimum Requirements: Masters Degree in Nursing or other education and experience allowing licensure by the Utah State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Must have a license to practice in the state of Utah Current BLS Certification Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical dietetic and obesity process and its applications, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nutritional care Experience in program management and care of people with a chronic disease or obesity to meet quality standards and maintain ADA ERP recognition Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing and via email with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills Ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters Demonstrated computer skills with data entry software Institutional accreditation and degree obtainment will be verified upon hire Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years experience working as a Nurse Practitioner Three or more years experience in endocrinology, diabetes or obesity education Physical Requirements: Work up to a 12 hour shift Sit up to 6-8 hours a day Stand and walk up to 4-6 hours a day Speak and listen to internal and external customers Bend to reach supplies/materials, reach with hands and arms throughout the day Lifting, pushing, pulling Grasp and manipulate tools Key information into a computer workstation, use computer peripheral tools Please Note: All positions subject to close without notice
