This is a Temporary/Part-Time internship. The right candidate must be willing to work weekends and make a firm commitment to work three to five days per week though early-September 2013 AND commit to weekends September through the end of December 2013.

Summary: Assists Animal Division and Education staff with programming associated with summer activities at the Zoo. For summer 2013 will facilitate care and programs at Greenie's Conservation Corner, lead guided tours at Aye-Aye Forest and provide interpretative elements elsewhere as needed. May be utilized for additional on or offsite program elements that share the mission of the San Francisco Zoo.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Provide daily care of Greenie's Conservation Corner in conjunction with Education Staff and Horticulture Staff. Duties will include basic daily maintenance of exhibit and leading classes or presentations in the exhibit.

Will provide guided guest experience at Aye-Aye Forest and assist with TOWS supervision at Primate Center.

May represent the Zoo at community events and present the "roadshow" along with Education or ARC staff.

Interacts with Zoo guests courteously and offers proper attention at all times.

Will provide relief coverage for CZ, ARC and Education interns if needed.

Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidates for the position will possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A candidate that has completed some coursework in biology, zoology, ecology, or a related area is preferred . The candidate must be in good physical condition and capable of standing for the duration of normal work shifts. The candidate must have good organizational skills and exceptional people skills, including the ability to communicate well with zoo visitors of all ages.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE: Public speaking and interactions.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age requirement is 18 years.

SALARY: $10.55 PER HOUR .
