Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor in Graphic Design East Carolina University's School of Art and Design seeks a tenure-track assistant or associate professor faculty member in graphic design. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of graphic design classes from sophomore to graduate level (three courses per semester), research/creative activities, and service to the university, community, and profession. Strong background in graphic design and typography required. Interactive/motion design experience and/or education highly preferred.

The graphic design program at East Carolina University prepares students to become critical thinkers and problems solvers, use design to improve their world, and most importantly to enter professional graphic design practice. We achieve this through the philosophy of thinking through making. These goals are supported by well-equipped computer labs and an extensive letterpress facility in the context of a comprehensive art and design school.

Minimum Qualifications

MFA or other terminal degree from an appropriately accredited institution in graphic design required by start of the 2013-2014 academic year. Design industry work experience and university-level teaching experience preferred. This is a full-time 9-month, tenure-track appointment with benefits.

The successful candidate is expected to support and contribute to teaching, research, and innovative curriculum development in graduate and undergraduate programs. Appropriate service to the university, community, and profession is expected.
