The Assistant Supervisor of Central Sterilization and Processing iscritical to the success of St. Joseph’s Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. Under the direction of the Central Processing Supervisor the Assistant Supervisor of Central Sterilization and Processing will supervise the PM shift of Central Sterile Processing and have 24 hour supervision in the absence of the Central Processing Supervisor. This position will ensure for the provision of the highest quality sterile/disinfection instrumentation, supplies and equipment and also comply with Joint Commission, CMS, CDPH, Title 22, and Public Utility requirements and all other pertinent regulations, including AAMI and AORN recommended practices. This individual plans, organizes and directs the Central Sterilization Processing Department for PM's and in the absence of the Central Processing Supervisor. This position reviews, evaluates and approves all contracts, appropriations and an expenditure request submitted by department personnel as well as develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures. In concert with the Central Processing Supervisor, the individual ensures ongoing staff development and competencies, manages and resolves human resource and labor relation issues, and employee and department safety and risk management issues. Additional duties may include: Monitors financial performance and identifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of services. Assists with the preparation of capital and operating expense budgets in concert with the Central Processing Supervisor. Establishes, implements and maintains fiscal control standards for all CSP services including purchasing, inventory, storage, preparation and service; requisitions supplies and equipment; evaluates and recommends suppliers and prepares contracts for outside service/supply agreements as needed. Monitors equipment to ensure proper function as well as the need for routine maintenance and repairs. Ensures proper use of chemicals and personal safety equipment. Represents SJMC with professional societies, the financial community, government agencies, and the public. Ensures compliance with all industry infection control standards and internal policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing PM Central Processing Staff.

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the organization. The employee shall support the organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan (PIP).

Minimum 5 years' processing or surgery experience.
Minimum 1 year supervisor experience.
AA or Bachelors Degree
Sterile Processing Technician and/or Sterile Processing Manager certification
Central Service Certification
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
