The University of Florida Department of Landscape Architecture invites applications for a 9-month tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position, beginning in fall 2014. The successful candidate will teach and conduct research with a proven track record in one or more of the following areas:
• innovative stormwater design and management
• sustainable construction practices
• site planning and design with an emphasis on evidence-based decision-making
• design and planning in light of urbanization and changing land uses
Priority will be given to candidates with the ability to teach construction and implementation courses as well as studios and lecture courses appropriate to their expertise. Digital fluency is necessary, with a strong emphasis on CAD and other software appropriate to the stated expertise.
As one of two units in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning, the Department of Landscape Architecture is an established program with accredited Bachelors and Masters Programs in landscape architecture, a growing Ph.D. program, a strong relationship with Urban and Regional Planning, and varying degrees of interaction with other units in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, which offers degree programs in Architecture, Building Construction, Interior Design, Historic Preservation and Sustainability.
The Department seeks a colleague with landscape architectural practice experience and a clear potential to succeed in a land grant and research university. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in instruction, funded research, peer-recognized scholarly activity and creative scholarship and an established record of service to the public and to the profession.
The candidate must have a professional terminal degree in landscape architecture.
Licensure is preferred. A Ph.D. with a proven research agenda is preferred, but not mandatory.
