JOB SUMMARY: |
The IT/AV Technician is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining AV equipment throughout the Aquarium. Will maintain operation of AV related exhibits, equipment, and services for visitors, guests, and staff and instruct staff in the operation of audio visual equipment. Will assist with the development and production of technical components and materials within exhibits and will assist with the development of AV related media for functions and events. This position will provide technical support for all audio visual equipment within the Aquarium and support for multimedia exhibits. Responsibilities include AV oversight and support of the event equipment for meetings, lectures and special events and assisting the Helpdesk staff, when needed, with PC and Apple issues.
1.Responsible for providing technical support, maintenance and inventory control of all audio visual resources used by staff within the Aquarium (250 employees)
2.Responsible for level one support for all audio visual needs within the exhibit path. Responsible for diagnosing defective or failed equipment and quickly identifying resolution options.
3.Responsible for maintaining the AV technology for all Aquarium internal meetings, lectures, and workshops. Is accountable for all AV equipment before, during and after each event.
4.Assists in the installation of exhibition media, when required.
5.Responsible for contacting outside AV support when required.
6.The position maintain inventory of AV equipment and spare parts and prepares orders, when required.
7.Collaborates with Exhibit Design and Planning and Facilities as it relates to AV equipment.
8.Supports all fax lines and fax machines within NEAq and acts a resource for copy machines.
9.Monitors and maintains SpiceWorks helpdesk database for all audio visual requests
10.Responsible for maintenance of all PC and Apple equipment used in exhibits.
11.Assists the Helpdesk staff, by troubleshooting and diagnosing all PC and Apple problems reported.
12.Must work a regular Tuesday- Saturday schedule.
Associate degree in electronics, video or audio production, theatre technology or related field, completion of a technical program or equivalent experience.
1 1/2 -3 years practical experience operating multimedia/AV equipment and PC and Mac experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate, maintain, and make repairs on a broad variety of audiovisual equipment including Crestron control systems, projectors, displays, speakers, wireless headsets, amplifiers, dvd players, cameras and associated equipment.
Position requires good problem solving, communication and customer service skills.
Outstanding customer service orientation and ability to communicate clearly and effectively to end-users at a wide range of technological skill levels.
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, the ability to take initiative, follow-through, and to work as a team member in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, are essential.
Hardware and software knowledge shall include both PC and Apple practical experience.
Participates in after-hours support as needed
A/V certification is preferred
