Advise students primarily by telephone and by e-mail regarding core curriculum issues, academic progress, graduation, and university requirements. Provide students with information focused on meeting academic needs, including transition to the college environment, exploration of various fields of study, and career opportunities or advancement. Keep accurate records of student advising contacts and their progress toward degree completion. Update and process degree plans, verify requirements using student information system, and participate in program initiatives. Work closely with other academic advisors, departments or colleges within the university to provide timely information on core/degree options and university policies. Utilize various computer software programs for registering, tracking, and communicating with students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and at least one year of academic advising or related experience. Superior verbal and written communication skills, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications. High level of organizational and interpersonal skills. Capability to perform in a high-paced and team-oriented environment is essential. Excellent listening skills and desire to deliver high quality customer service for potential online students. Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Attention to detail, aptitude for multitasking, and dependability a must.
