Advise students individually and/or within groups in person, by telephone, and by e-mail regarding core curriculum issues, academic progress, graduation, university requirements and various tracks of study that prepare students as applicants for professional schools in the health sciences. Provide students with information focused on meeting academic needs, including transition to the college environment, exploration of multiple fields of study, and career options in the health professions. Keep accurate records of student advising contacts and their progress toward degree completion. Update and process degree plans, verify requirements using the student information system, and conduct orientation sessions. Work closely with colleagues in the Undergraduate Advising Center to provide timely information on core/degree options and University policies. Utilize various computer software programs for registering, tracking, and communicating with students.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and at least one to three years of advising or related experience. Superior verbal and written communication skills, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications. High level of organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Familiarity with student records systems. Attention to detail, aptitude for multitasking, and dependability a must. Capability to perform in a high-paced and team-oriented environment.
