McGraw-Hill Professional has an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager based out of our New York City offices.
The role of the Account Manager is to develop the sales of McGraw-Hill Professional online products at colleges, universities, medical schools, hospitals, health systems, corporations and government institutions in the assigned territory. Responsibilities will also include travel and ongoing WebEx demonstrations.
Initiative: open new accounts and up-sell and renew current accounts. Also needs the ability to cold call and establish relationships with a diverse group of decision makers: academic and medical librarians, corporate librarians, clinicians, c-level executives and IT staff.
Relationship Management: manage direct and consortium relationships to maximize sales growth throughout the territory.
Perseverance: this sales position will feature an elongated selling cycle and needs someone who is patient and persistent in the sales approach.
Closing skills: this consummate sales skill will be paramount given the various decision makers involved in the selling process.
Ingenuity: clever solutions will be needed to close sales and the Account Manager must be conversant with the students; and professionals; research needs as he/she develops the sales plan to meet the customer’s needs.
Technical Acumen: must be able to effectively communicate unique selling features and product functionality to ensure proper staff and end user (customer) product usage. Also must effectively communicate sales results and market feedback internally to management and colleagues
Candidates should have 3+ years sales experience in the online arena (medical, science and engineering a plus) with specialized skill in launching new products.
Candidates should have a proven track record of sales success and have a demonstrable portfolio of selling digital products.
Candidate must also have experience in training staff and users
The position will require travel at least 2 occasions per month to effectively manage sales territory
