Scope: This position involves selling Cummins Products products and service capabilities in target markets to meet the sales objectives for the territory. Identifies, develops, and maintains strong customer relationships advancing brand loyalty and meeting customer’s needs.

Key Responsibilities
• Sell Cummins engines directly to the end user, leverage customer preference
o Assist end users with Engine replacements and / or Recon or New engines through effective needs assessment
o Create accurate quotes in a complex selling environment
o Meet customer needs by providing the appropriate Cummins solution
o Effectively communicate related repairs when mating an engine with piece of equipment
o Assist end users with developing and executing plans for major engine overhauls as necessary
• Formulate strategies that promote loose engine sales to:
o Municipal
o Marine
o Steel Mill
o Mill contractors
o Rail
o Vocational
o Off-road construction equipment
• Maintain networking and working relationships with current customer base
o Promote Cummins value package to end users within defined geographic area
o Promote Cummins NPower Branch and Field Service business to customers
• Prospecting new sales opportunities
o Identify new accounts using company provided data resources
o Utilize Cummins CRM system “Siebel” to organize leads / customer information
• Develop new direct sales opportunities with end users for growth of allied parts business.
• Communicate and support branch specific published sales specials and programs
Critical Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities by Dimension:
Functional/Technical
Functional/Technical Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years experience selling to industrial markets in greater Chicagoland & NW Indiana markets
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
• Established background supporting, selling, and maintaining business in the local market
• Excellent customer facing support skills that exemplify NPower CSE philosophy and standards
• Strong aptitude toward diesel engines and knowledge of Cummins products
• Travel required – Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to use computers, experience with MS office tools such as Word and Excel
• Familiarity with use of engine information systems and tools (preferably Cummins)
• Candidate must possess strong negotiation skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours to meet customer expectations
• Strong planning, organization, and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, altering priorities as required to meet established deadlines
• Excellent communication skills (active listening, writing, speaking in person and over the phone)

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers and internal team members (i.e. Service & Parts departments)
• Ability to develop & maintain effective working relationships with customers and co-workers
