Responsible for client communications and the administration of defined contribution plans in compliance with regulatory requirements to provide customer satisfaction and contribute to Division growth and profitability. More experienced account managers administer complex and/or large plans.

Candidate qualifications will determine whether this position is filled as a level I or level II.

Responsibilities:

Account Manager I:
Develop and manage effective relationships with plan representatives, sales consultants, consulting firms, and co-workers by acting as primary home office client liaison. Includes utilizing technical and plan specific knowledge to solve problems and communicate with clients regarding administrative, plan design, and regulatory issues. Serve as member of secondary call center to support Participant Communication team during cyclical call volume increases. Complete tasks and/or assist in workflow coordination of activities and client deliverables as needed for defined contribution plans to ensure accurate and timely administration. Review work completed by co-workers, provide detailed feedback to assure accurate plan administration and assist team in meeting business unit and or regulatory deadlines.

Account Manager II:

Develop and manage effective relationships with plan representatives, sales consultants, consulting firms, and co-workers by acting as primary home office client liaison. Includes independently utilizing technical and plan specific knowledge to solve problems and communicate with clients regarding administrative, plan design, and regulatory issues. Serve as member of secondary call center to support Participant Communication team during cyclical call volume increases. Complete tasks and/or assist in workflow coordination of activities and client deliverables as needed for defined contribution plans to ensure accurate and timely administration. Review work completed by co-workers, provide detailed feedback to assure accurate plan administration, and assist team in meeting business unit and/or regulatory deadlines. Demonstrate effective leadership, act as a resource, expert, or mentor for defined contribution procedures and pension regulations and train co-workers. Participate on process improvement project teams to research complex regulatory issues and design more efficient methods to complete work. Inform the unit of changes/impact and develop/revise and implement procedures.

Qualifications:

Account Manager I:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years experience in defined contribution plan administration responsibilities, including allocation completion, document interpretation, asset reconciliation, and customer contact. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with accounting principles, including financial statement interpretation, spreadsheets and federal pension regulations.
  • Professional certification required: ASPPA (QKA, QPA) or NIPA (APA) (APR) preferred or in progress.
Account Manager II:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience: 4 to 6 years experience in defined contribution plan administration responsibilities, including allocation completion, document interpretation, asset reconciliation, and customer contact. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with accounting principles, including financial statement interpretation, spreadsheets, and federal pension regulations.
  • Professional certification required: ASPPA (QKA, QPA) or NIPA (APA) (APR) preferred or in progress.
