The Account Manager manages sales activities of the Client within the Alta Resources organization selling products for manufacturer or distributor to businesses (direct and indirect customers), primarily over the phone, fax and electronically, but occasionally at customer's place of business by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meet Client's sales and customer service objectives
Correspond regularly with client and customers via phone, e-mail, and fax
Prepare recap of monthly sales results and successes
Provide customer service including ad claims, damages, order entry, order tracking, sales materials (P.O.S., Deal Sheets, Surveys, Samples, Planograms), deductions and credit problems
Inform customers of new product launches, product changes, and new distribution of existing products
Follow up on prospective customer sales leads, based on information from client
Discuss product features, benefits, and salability with customers to increase sales and promote product
Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales presentations for orders obtained
Analyze customer base and recognize opportunities
Review market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company
Review orders for ideas to expand services available to present customers
Travel occasional as required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have strong organizational skills with an excellent attention to detail, exceptional listening skills are a must, proven computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office along with the ability to learn client specific systems in a rapid manner, high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, highly self motivated and directed with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks, proven ability to give presentations in front of customers and clients and the ability to work independently or in a team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is required. One to three years sales experience required.
TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE
This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes: Beginning Word and Excel, along with Client and Alta designated software. Also, individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by the Client and Alta Resources.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand. Manual dexterity which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required, as is the ability to talk, and hear The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
