Nature and Scope of Job:
To provide accounting support to the District Accountant by
coordinating and monitoring operations of the Accounting Department. Specific
accounts to include all grant funds, capital project funds, and other funds as
determined by the District Accountant. Maintains the fixed asset inventory of
the District. The Accountant I must establish a good rapport with all
individuals in the School District, and convey a cheerful, helpful, and
customer focused attitude
Maintains and monitors the overall Governmental
Accounting process used by the district daily to ensure that all practices used
are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Creates reports monthly.
Balance journals and ledgers; tests and executes
month-end and yearly closing on last working day of the month and year to
ensure timely distribution of reports.
Reconcile district checking accounts to general
Maintains an internal audit of account balances
for possible over-expenditures and discrepancies monthly.
Distributes monthly expenditure reports to
Assists with yearly audit with assigned auditors
and department personnel in order to allow for full disclosure.
Creates reports when requested by

District Accountant in the annual budget creation.

any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as
assigned by their supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or

Education, License, Certification or Formal Training
A Bachelors degree (or higher) in
Accounting. Preference given to CPA.
