Analyzes and interprets fiscal data, manages the accounting functions, cash controls and warehouse operations, to monitor procurement and administrate the charge card program. Manages phone/computer/electronic repairs for Powhatan Cor Center and Powhatan Reception & Classification Center, ensuring processes are handled accurately, timely and in accordance to law, policy and procedure. Manages the daily operations of Accounting and the Warehouse. Supervises the Accountant , the Warehouse Manager and the Electronic Repair Technician. Provides guidance in the application of accounting principles, procurement, inventory control and in development of new procedures to Accounting, State Farm Warehouse (services Central Region institutions), Procurement, Commissary and Contract vendors. Manages Commissary operation ledgers and reporting, Warehouse accounting, receivables, payables, operational and offender accounting, Medical accounting and electronic device liason and troubleshooting.
Responsible for reports, statements, reconciliation of CARS, FAACs, LAS and VAPS, and projection reports for two agencies. Serves as an Assistant and backup to the Business Manager. Audits, reviews and analyzes financial documents and reports ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Considerable working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices and of the use of computer systems and techniques in maintaining accounting and inventory records. Considerable skills in computer related software to include Word and Excel and an Inventory software. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records. Demonstrated ability to assimilate and analyze complex financial data and prepare reports. Demonstrated ability to train, manage and direct the work of supporting staff. Previous experience in Accounting, inventory control and providing supervision to others.
Graduation from a college or university with major studies in business, accounting and/or an equivalent combination of training and advanced experience. Prefer previous work experience with Commonwealth of Virginia Accounting Systems (CORIS, CORIS Financials, and CARS) and Offender Pay Systems.
