This is initially a 10 month position with the months of December and January off. Position is part-time with benefits and works approximately 20 -26 hours per week. Must be able to consistently work 25-26 hours per week during Field Season (approximately April through August), or when needed.

This position is located in Eureka at Washington University's Biological Field Station, Tyson Research Center.
The Tyson Research Center has an immediate opening for an Accounting Assistant. The Accounting Assistant provides general daily administrative support and grant accounting support to Tyson Research Center staff, researchers, instructors and visitors. The position also provides primary assistance to the Director and Administrative Coordinator/Accountant.
Works with Accounting Coordinator and Business Manager to process Field station accounting paperwork both operational and research related. Includes using AIS for input of purchase orders, check requests, and travel expense reports. Processes invoices, billings, and resolves Accounts Payable issues. Handles petty cash reimbursements and manages all vendor blanket orders and submits change orders to meet fluctuating Field Station and maintenance needs. Backup HRMS entry and assists with budget and variance analysis. (35%)
Compilation, input and review of Procard transactions. (15%)
Primary responsibility for seminar arrangements, shopping for supplies, making travel arrangements, handling telephone and gate entry inquiries, and directing visitors and deliveries. Coordinates card access and keys to Tyson facility with variety of users and visitors. Compiles visitor/user statistics. (15%)
Assists Director and Admin. Coordinator with planning and coordinating of programs, conferences, and events. Makes travel arrangements. Special projects as may be assigned. (15%)
Tracks grant expenditures and meets compliance measures for Sponsored Projects Accounting requirements. (15%)
Other duties as may be assigned. (5%)
High school degree. Competent in Microsoft Office and experience with typical accounting software. Good understanding of accounting processes with 2+ years experience in bookkeeping and providing administrative support, including making travel arrangements. Proven customer service orientation.
Good with numbers and accounting concepts, accurate inputting, ability to quickly learn new systems and procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proven team player, ability to work with minimal oversight, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Effective multi-tasking skills and strong customer service and work ethic. Good judgment and shopping skills. Ability to follow/ take directions. Able to work late or on weekends on occasion and excel in an environment that can vary from dynamic to static. Office environment in field station but occasional need to work outdoors. Ability to lift/move 25 lbs. infrequently. Must enjoy outdoors, appreciate nature, and wish to work in a field station environment with ecological researchers and support ecological mission.
Must possess or successfully obtain a Class E driver's license.
College degree, strong accounting, budgeting, and receivables/payables experience. Knowledge of compliance rules, and competent in WU accounting systems.
The hiring range for this position is $14.14 - $21.21
