Accounting Supervisor-Fixed Assets

Plays key role in the daily execution of accounting responsibilities, serving as a front-line resource for Fixed Assets and the Fixed Asset Coordinators to ensure company guidelines are being met as they relate to capitalizing and expensing assets. This person will be a self-starter who accepts new challenges willingly and is able to drive departmental project initiatives to a successful conclusion. This person should have strong analytical skills and extensive experience using Excel and other applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Supervise a team of 12 employees, as well as 1 -2 contractors at a time.
•Monitoring and assisting staff with day to day operations to ensure that projects are being closed in a timely manner and assets are being set up correctly.
•Familiar with assets capital vs. expense guidelines.
•Assist in external and internal audited processes.
•Perform extensive data analysis on CIP balances, Repairs & Maintenance, and Dead or DFT'd accounts to ensure that proper treatment is performed. Based on the results, delegate out to the team in order to close the project and set up assets, expense or write off amounts entirely.
•Perform routine month end close activities and work with the management team to close the books in the time allotted and performs system maintenance which relates to the month end close process.
•Collaborate with the management teams of Facilities, Construction, & Real Estate and interacts directly with various other departments within the company to ensure guidelines for setting up projects are being met and the capital vs. expense guidelines are being followed and projects are set up correctly and closed in a timely manner.
•Perform ad hoc analysis for various departments as it relates to assets and their nbv impact throughout the company.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree
Experience: 2-3 Years, Fixed Assets, management, & related accounting experience
Extensive knowledge of Oracle & Excel
Knowledge of Project Forum is a plus but not required
Strong data analysis & research skills
Experience with JE's, reconciling accounts and forecasting
Fixed Assets experience with understanding of capital vs. expense guidelines
Must have the ability to work hand in hand with other departments and employees at different levels to ensure that the processes are managed properly and meet audit guidelines
Ability to manage a large team with varying skill sets and be able to facilitate changes within the group as needed
