This position is responsible for preparing students to be successful in their future careers by developing the requisite skills and knowledge appropriate for graduates. The philosophy of Harrison College requires that instructors conduct themselves in a professional manner to meet the needs of students and prospective employers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare and execute lesson plans that are driven by the course and program objectives and that include a balance of teacher and student-centered instructional strategies as well as varied assessment (formative and/or summative) strategies.
2. Maintain current knowledge of the field of study via continued employment in the field, and/or regular and active participation in professional development activities. Maintain membership and involvement in professional and community organizations.
3. Relate to students in a professional manner. Encourage students to seek additional help as needed. Work willingly with students who experience difficulty. Communicate student issues of concern to appropriate channels while respecting FERPA guidelines.
4. Augment college created curriculum with relevant and meaningful instructional supplements which further enhance the learning experience for students.
5. Use multiple sources of data to inform instructional decisions and efforts toward effective preparation of students.
6. Communicate regularly with students to celebrate successes, address academic and
attendance concerns and to provide constructive and robust feedback related to
assignments and course objectives in a timely manner.
7. Conduct critical friend observations; provide robust and practical constructive feedback to peers.
8. Exemplify leadership by modeling professionalism, lifelong learning, and commitment to serving students both inside and outside the classroom. Strive toward continuous improvement and efforts to consistently demonstrate all desired behaviors listed in the faculty competency matrix.
9. Complete tasks in the expected timeframe and with a commitment to quality.
10. When possible, attend faculty, staff and in-service meetings. When possible, attends graduation and other campus-based events as assigned by the supervisor. NOTE: specific schedules subject to change per the business need and at the discretion of the supervisor.
11. Perform substitute-teaching duties as assigned.
12. Represent Harrison College in a professional manner at all times.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and research Internet software and prefer previous working knowledge of CampusVue and Contact Management Software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
