Offer administrative assistance in dealing with vendors and invoices, and responsibility for management of the Brimmer Collection

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated administrative experience in clerical support services
  • Experience - Competence with basic computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Competencies
    • fundamental skills in maintaining library accounts payable;
    • competence with or willingness to learn basic searching skills;
    • competence with or willingness to learn to use electronic tools unique to library applications
  • Ordinary lifting and movement
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and library patrons
  • Ability to interact with vendors in matters of billing and acquisitions

Primary Responsibilities
  • Expedite payment of library bills
  • Maintain records and files to reflect library budget
  • Administer day-to-day functioning of Brimmer Children’s Library
  • Assist Dean with correspondence regarding gifts in kind
  • Prepare book orders for vendor; track standing orders
  • Receive and verify book deliveries
  • Collect data for IPEDS reports

Auxiliary Responsibilities
  • Answer telephone
  • Provide simple library information

General Responsibilities
  • Assist with circulation when necessary
  • Contribute to a team-oriented teaching library environment
  • Communicate with those seeking support with basic library tools
  • Undertake other duties as assigned
