Works under general supervision to provide administrative support to a group of human resources professionals. Requires knowledge of the organization and programs where assigned. Duties include providing primary support for Human Resources (HR) functions of employment, performance management, benefits, safety, and training, and participating in and supporting of the work of the supervisors. If fluent in English and Spanish, may coordinate and provide support services to the organization’s Spanish-speaking population.
High School Diploma or GED AND 3 years experience providing administrative support. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Required Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures, and equipment; of business English, spelling, grammar, and math. Ability to edit, format, and revise a variety of documents and materials created by others and to proofread for grammatical, typographical, and content errors.
Working knowledge of, and ability to understand and interpret general human resources practices and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills including the use of computers for correspondence, report writing, email and routine activities. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
Must be able to simultaneously organize and execute multiple assignments and meet deadlines, while ensuring attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Must maintain poise and courtesy under pressure, and handle sensitive and confidential matters with diplomacy and tact. Must demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of customers.
Ability to understand both written documents and oral conversations in English and Spanish also desired.
Experience working in a human resources office is strongly desired.
Must have a driver’s license as duties require the incumbent to be able to deliver small packages, parcels, and other items to locations throughout the campus. If driving a State vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points.
