Job Summary : Provides a high level of clinical practice, leadership, and skills to improve and coordinate patient care within specific units for the adult population. Manages the identified “at risk” populations within each specific area to enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, attainment of appropriate lengths of stay, most effective level of care, and therefore prevention of unnecessary readmissions. Positively impacts patient outcomes and experience in the clinical setting to include, but not limited to: Core Measures, Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, Patient Experience, hospital acquired conditions, and patient education. Serves as clinical knowledge expert/leader to professional nursing staff during periods of change (i.e.: new procedure, supplies, evidence, MDs, and/or electronic documentation) to insure highest level of care is provided and becomes hardwired into frontline nursing practice. Serves as clinical role model for all members of the care team by demonstrating leadership, experience, and creative approaches in the management of complex patient care. Serves as a clinical consultant and liaison to or between physicians, hospital management, patient care associates, families and community members.

Education/Experience : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing . Completion of a Master’s Degree in an accredited Acute Care, Family, or Adult Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Leader Program is required. Alabama Board of Nursing Endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Leader. Three years of satisfactory Staff RN experience is preferred.

Special Skills or Knowledge/Certifications or Licenses : Minimum of two (2) years continuous recent clinical RN experience; three (3) years are preferred. Current RN license in the state of Alabama; APN or CNL certification.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills necessary. Ability to work with minimal guidance.

Demonstrates advanced communication and collaboration skills with individuals and groups. Demonstrates a high degree of judgment and competence in providing specialized care. Ability to apply knowledge of principles and methods of research.
