This position is located in Serra Mesa.
8-hour shift: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, including weekends.
Internal candidates only (Current Sharp HealthCare employees)
Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure required
Certification as Wound Ostomy Nurse required
Acute Care experience strongly preferred
1 to 2 years’ experience as a Wound Ostomy Nurse preferred
Provide direct patient care for complex wound management
Provide patient/family teaching related to Ostomy management
Provide ongoing staff education related to pressure ulcer prevention
This RN position is part of the dynamic wound healing team consisting of advanced practice nurses who provide education/consultation to clinical nurses and medical staff to promote excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes in the areas of wound management, pressure ulcer prevention and Ostomy care. Sharp's wound healing program provides comprehensive care to patients until healing occurs for either chronic or slow-healing wounds. Sharp's wound healing services see patients on an inpatient basis by physician referral.
Inpatient wound healing services offered by Sharp Memorial Hospital involve a collaborative process between primary care providers and referring physicians to provide comprehensive and advanced wound treatment. The center is staffed by certified wound, Ostomy and continence (CWON) nurses who serve as wound healing/Ostomy experts to staff RN’s, MD’s and the multi-disciplinary teams.
The Wound Team at SMH is a group of advanced practice nurses who provide consultation to clinical nurses and medical staff to promote excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes in the areas of wound management, pressure ulcer prevention and ostomy care.

Bed mobilization (scooting/rolling)
Lateral transfers (bed to gurney)
Bed to chair/wheelchair/commode transfer
Lift up to 50 pounds
Push/Pull over 100 pounds
Carry up to 25 pounds
