The Division of Rheumatology has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in our Rheumatology Deerfield Practice. This position will assist the Rheumatologist at this practice by seeing Rheumatology outpatients and giving injections as necessary. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to triaging patient problems for the physicians, providing lab results, submitting orders, giving injections, and providing peer-to-peer support for medication and injection authorizations. The Physician Extender will assist physician in evaluation and care of patients and tracking test results and medical information from referring physicians. The physician extender will see patients in follow-up in between infusion appointments; write initial evaluation, follow-up notes, physical findings and evaluation of test results and provide necessary actions. Order initial and follow-up tests (labs, radiologic studies, and other procedures necessary, as well as enter orders for infusions). Arrange and provide proper consultation and follow to the outcome. Liaison with outpatient clinics for proper follow-up. Report to the physician for actions provided to patients as necessary. Initiate and maintain infusion orders on patients. Perform minor procedures, such as injections, blood drawing, as necessary.

The minimum requirements are: Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required (diplomas and transcripts will be required). Current/valid Florida License required. BLS certification required. One year relevant experience is necessary, and prefer specific experience in a rheumatology practice. Must complete PALS certification. Experience in an academic center or large complex facility seeing and follow-up on outpatients is preferred. Strong computer skills, and interpersonal communication skills required. Provide track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff and patients. Experience with EPIC EMR a plus. Any combination of relevant education, work experience and/or certifications may be considered. Physician Assistants with Masters Level okay to apply.
