The Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO) Officer provides guidance and counsel relevant to all AA and EEO activities; serves as Title IX Coordinator; work involves a high level of interdepartmental cooperation with College decision-makers; maintains up-to-date knowledge of the general policies set by federal and state laws, statutes, and regulations; the Board of Trustees, and College administration.
Examples of Duties:
a. Receives, investigates and resolves where possible, all EEO complaints and/or allegations filed by employees or students (relating to faculty or staff).
b. Receives, investigates, and resolves where possible, employee complaints and/or concerns that are not related to EEO regulations and works with supervisors to improve team and/or departmental functions and overall employee relations at the College.
c. Receives, investigates, and resolves where possible, all harassment complaints and/or allegations filed by employees or students.
d. Receives and investigates complaints under the College’s Zero Tolerance Administrative Guideline; prepares reports and makes recommendations for corrective action.
e. Audit Human Resources processes as needed to ensure EEO compliance.
f. Provides training related to AA/EEO and Harassment as needed.
g. Develops, maintains, and updates the College’s Affirmative Action Plan as required.
h. Maintains a current knowledge base on all matters pertaining to diversity, AA, and EEO.
i. Develops and/or updates applicable AA/EEO policies as necessary.
j. Prepares and implements unit plans for AA/EEO.
k. Acts as budget manager for AA/EEO.
Education & Experience:
a. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
b. A minimum of three (3) years experience working with federal and state AA/EEO laws, regulations, and statutes required.
c. Minimum of basic skill level ability in Microsoft Office applications required.
d. Previous training experience preferred.
e. Previous experience in working with diverse individuals, groups, and organizations required.
f. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Description of Other Duties:
a. Conducts mediation as necessary to assist individuals and/or groups in resolving conflict that affects work performance.
b. Performs other duties as assigned.
