This is a professional position responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and oversight of highway safety programs that address problematic areas such as Occupant Protection, Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, Speed and Aggressive Driving. Incumbent will coordinate federal, state and local projects using federal funds to implement and enhance statewide, regional and local program initiatives and projects. This includes identifying/addressing problematic areas; developing and tracking activities related to programmatic goals; assessing impact of individual projects and activities; providing technical support and working closely with staff at state and federal agencies, localities and non-profit organizations that have overlapping responsibilities within the highway safety program areas.
Working knowledge of basic accounting and business English; management principles and practices; automated data processing systems and procedures; structure of federal, state, local government, program and project management techniques and principles.
Ability to analyze problematic areas, plan/organize and lead projects and programs, identify and make recommendations for resolution of problems; to communicate clearly through strong oral communication and writing skills; to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals and organizations in order to build networks for implementation of projects. Should possess excellent organizational skills and basic computer knowledge.
College degree and /or law enforcement tenure or extensive knowledge of local, state or federal funding process and safety programs.
