SWCA is seeking a talented Air Quality Specialist to join our growing air quality practice in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise compliance assurance, permitting, climate change, and related environmental projects in the power generation, oil and gas and industrial sectors. Assisting with preparation of proposals, interacting with and presenting solutions to clients, identifying new business opportunities, conducting technical and regulatory analysis of emission sources, and preparing reports are additional responsibilities required of the successful candidate.

This is a full-time, hourly position reporting to the Office Director.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with Project Managers and clients in implementing project tasks
Gather technical data from clients and independent research and create extensive technical documentation
Assist in business development efforts
Assist in preparing air quality compliance and permitting documents
Assist with technical analysis, evaluation, and preparation of air quality and soundscapes sections for NEPA, CEQA, FERC and NRC documents
Determine NSPS, NESHAP, and NSR/PSD requirements for emission sources
Develop emission calculations (criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants, and greenhouse gases)
Calculate emissions to determine impacts using various air pollutant emission and noise models and documenting the results in a technical report
Support growth and development of SWCA’s air quality and climate change services.
Collaborate with other SWCA practitioners to execute air quality projects, including participating on teams comprised of Air Quality professionals from multiple offices across the organization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, chemical, mechanical, environmental science, or related degree
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the environmental field, primarily in air permitting and compliance
A minimum of three (3) years of work experience with an industrial, research, consulting or regulatory agency required
Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory authorities and air quality regulations preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong attention to detail
Flexible and willingness to support non-air related projects as needed
Excellent time management skills to support multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline
