The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding the functionality of existing business systems within a business unit, identifying options for improving the systems, and bridging the needs of the business with the use of technology. The Business Analyst serves as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate current and future business requirements for HVHC / Davis Vision initiatives with regard to more efficient automation, technology and improved business processes
  • Perform complex or exploratory system and data analysis and present findings to technical and business personnel
  • Assist in designing business and functional requirements to support business needs, improve internal processes, satisfy external customer requests, and change or enhance the functions of current programs
  • Collect requirements of proposed application systems including functional needs as well as requirements related to performance such as reliability, scalability and operational stability; evaluate and recommend applicable solutions
  • Works with technical staff to develop system design options, data requirements, integration requirements, test plans and test cases, implementation plans, communication plans, and operational needs prior to system development/implementation
  • Facilitate project transitions through all project phases as the representative of the end-user/customer needs, explaining to progressively larger audiences of technical staff the intentions and requirements of the project
  • Work with Testing Team to develop initial test cases with the business requirements and assists with or reviews detailed test plans design. May participate in test execution and analysis of test outcomes
  • Assist with development of training materials and/or execution of training classes as appropriate
  • Interface with external customers whenever needed
  • Use intuition, prior experience, industry knowledge, system expertise and ability to empathize with end-user/customer needs to develop recommendations or approaches that allow innovation and creativity
  • Balance innovation/creativity against risk and potential rewards from change to validate the appropriateness and reasonableness each recommendation
  • Maintain complete documentation of all project deliverables following defined PMLC guidelines and using established templates
  • Recommend improvements to templates and PMLC guidelines; recommends use of additional tools/templates as appropriate
  • Serve as Business Analyst for multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity
  • Interview internal and external customers with questions about system solutions, business solutions and procedures.
  • Participate in any/all training and educational activities necessary

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent job experience

Experience and Background:
  • 2-3 years business analysis, systems analysis, testing or programming
