The Analyst position will support the transactional flow of a top producing team of professionals, with a very broad exposure to various commercial property types and financing structures. The analyst will be responsible for all financial modeling and underwriting transactions, specifically in the areas of construction loans, mezzanine loans and equity investments for commercial, residential and mixed-use projects. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Create, analyze, and audit financial statements and models
  • Assemble information into a concise, thorough narrative description for purposes of loan request offering memorandums. Strong written communication skills are a pre-requisite
  • Investigate, analyze and communicate micro and macro-level location attributes of projects in consideration
  • Analyze and gather market and economic information including, but no limited to, rental and sales comparables, vacancy rates, and expense comparables through independent field work and direct contact with brokers, appraisers and developers in order to complete required market and economic analysis
  • Read, analyze, understand and summarize various commercial leases and other documents and contracts
  • Understand physical characteristics of properties, and the related competitive advantages and disadvantages
  • Produce high quality, accurate and insightful work while meeting short time deadlines
  • Collect, qualify, and analyze competitive quotes from various capital sources
  • Review and analyze legal contracts such as loan applications, commitments and loan documents
  • Obtain bids, engage, and manage the delivery of third party reports from vendors such as appraisers, surveyors, and engineers
  • Conduct due diligence and interface with clients to obtain necessary documentation to appropriately manage and conduct the closing process
  • Maintain the Customer Relationship (CRM) and Pipeline systems to ensure all loan/transaction information is properly recorded and all required documents and quotes are posted to the system
  • Responsible for supplies, maintenance and other general office duties

Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years of relevant business experience within commercial real estate or the equivalent, including internship experience within the real estate industry
  • Advanced level of expertise in MS Excel, Word and Argus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of personal motivation and responsibility
  • Ability to move forward on projects of your own initiative
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented setting and to work well on your own
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work long hours, up to 50+ hours per week, including occasional weekends
  • Attention to detail and ability to function under tight time frames
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Understanding of real estate valuation techniques

Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • Professional experience in the mortgage banking industry
  • Real estate finance classes in undergraduate program
