Position will support the existing demand for capacity for optical characterization and basic QC of the company’s commercial polymer products and developmental materials.

Candidate will further support basic FPLC/HPLC characterization methods defined in detailed SOPs. Individual should be comfortable working in a demanding, fast paced environment under strict deadlines. Individual should be able to multi-task, work independently with little supervision, possess good communication skills, and work well with others. Day to day functions will include strictly following SOPs for optical and LC characterization as well as maintenance of the spectroscopy lab.


Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Carefully and confidently handle large amounts of valuable and light-sensitive product with little supervision.

Carefully and thoroughly follow established SOPs relating to listed responsibilities.

Provide required documentation in the form of notebook entries, production checklists, and production worksheets.

Perform optical and QC measurements on development materials and commercial products


Measure absorption and fluorescence spectra via UV/Vis spectroscopy.


Determine quantum yields via absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy following established protocols.


Qualify new standards for quantum yield measurements.


Conduct photostability testing following established protocols.


Perform basic molecular weight and analytical purity measurements on various Liquid Chromatography systems

Maintain spectroscopy lab


Provide assistance as needed to maintain functioning laboratory, including cuvette cleaning, material ordering, instrument validation, etc.


Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.


Works independently and with little supervision.


Multi-tasks to cover all job functions.


Strong attention to detail.


Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.


Suggests improvements in and adaptations to methodologies, processes, and systems related to particular projects


Applies standard principles, theories and concepts in the field and has working knowledge of other related disciplines


Tests, analyzes and interprets data and development situations/events requiring evaluation of identifiable factors


Keeps abreast of technical knowledge in the field

Education and Experience:

BS in Chemistry or relevant field


Basic hands-on experience in a general synthetic chemistry lab.


Experience with UV/Vis and/or fluorescence spectroscopy.


Experience with FPLC and/or HPLC preferred.


A background in polymer chemistry preferred (optional).
