Produce, write & edit the line-up and layout of assigned sportscasts and statewide sports shows.
• Assist in assigning sports reporters, offer story ideas and determine the best placement for sports content. Create and finalize the sportscast lineup, request appropriate graphics, pre-production, and chyron working with art department and production department.
• Shoot, record and edit sound and pictures for broadcasts, displaying awareness of the elements of good photojournalism. Operate and run live trucks.
• Write sports stories, teases and promos, proof read packages for content and grammar ensuring writing meets legal and journalistic standards as well as the time allotted.
• Perform timing of sportscast while in progress; provide live technical direction and reorganization when necessary communicating with the director, audio, floor crew, and tape operator. Communicating clearly to the sports anchors through IFB. Coordinate live remote shots as well as satellite shots.
Skills Record sound and pictures on video for broadcasts, displaying awareness of the elements of good photojournalism. Employ keen lighting skills. Stay in contact with Assignment Desk throughout shift. Coordinate with Assignment Desk and Reporter; communicate ideas for specific story assignments. Apply editing skills for stories. Organize video for broadcasting. Avoid potential technical problems. Work with other departments to ensure smooth presentation. Maintain awareness of current events, technology and terminology. Receive satellite, microwave and fiber optic feeds as necessary. Edit stories for news broadcasts. Check run downs and edit stories in order of importance. Download video to server for daily editing. Locate all field tapes for future editing. Perform other job related duties as assigned, including driving automobile for company business.

Hours/Schedules Full time position. Schedule will vary, must be flexible to schedule changes.

Education Minimum two years college or trade school with emphasis on Radio/TV or Journalism. Minimum one year of news photographer experience. Prefer two years of experience small to medium market as videotape editor. Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of two years of experience equals one year of education.
