This facility offers over 25 multi-specialty and primary care outpatient services and a limited service hospital to a diverse patient community.

The Anesthesia Technician supports the Anesthesia Providers in delivering quality care to patients undergoing outpatient or ambulatory surgery, and pain procedures. Maintains a clean, organized, and well stocked workroom. Maintains clean, functional anesthesia equipment. Schedules patients for Pain Clinic and under the direction of the Anesthesiologist, provides assistance with patient care during procedures. Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maintains a Clean, Organized and Well Stocked Workroom

  • Assures an adequate inventory of supplies and clean equipment to meet daily needs of ORs and Pain Clinic
  • Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock, removes outdates
  • Cleans and restocks room carts, block carts, and machines daily
  • Cleans shelves and drawers in workroom monthly and maintains a cleaning log
  • Cleans and puts equipment away at the end of each day
  • Specialty carts cleaned and restocked per schedule and after use - Difficult Airway, Peds, MH, Latex
2. Maintains Clean, Functional Anesthesia Equipment

  • Cleans and maintains equipment, machines and monitors
  • Coordinates repairs/maintenance w/ BioMed
  • Cleans, maintains, and stocks equipment in other departments
3. Supports Daily Work of the Anesthesia Providers and the Surgery Center

  • Assures special equipment is in ORs as needed for first cases
  • Delivers supplies to Anesthesia Providers in ORs throughout the day
  • Troubleshoots problems w/ equipment, machines and monitors
  • Assists w/ difficult intubations
  • Responds to codes, and other emergencies in the OR or PACU
  • Monitors and records department quality controls, i.e. refrigerator temp
  • Answers and triages incoming calls in workroom
  • Provides leadership to team on Anesthesia Department support issues
4. Supports Pain Clinic by:
A. Scheduling

  • Contacts patients and schedules within 10 working days after receiving referral or call from patient
  • Schedules patients for correct procedure, provider & location
  • Interviews patient and completes questionnaire
  • Sends secure message to ordering provider to DC anticoagulants
  • Listens to call backs from patients and calls back as requested
B. Assisting w/ Procedures

  • Assures supplies and equipment are available
  • Practices aseptic technique
  • Rooms, positions, and supports patients during procedure
  • Takes and monitors VS
  • Documents accurate info in Epic (VS, procedure)
  • Assures MD documentation and coding is complete
  • Participates in universal protocol "time-out" procedure with anesthesia provider and documents that it was done.
Qualifications

Experience Requirements

Minimum: Experience as an Anesthesia Tech and/or graduate of an Anesthesia Tech program.

Education Requirements

Minimum: High School Graduate/GED

Preferred: Graduate of an Anesthesia Technician program
