Overview: Management Science Associates, Inc. The MSA Media division has been offering client-focused technology and analytic solutions to the media/cable television industry since the early 1980s. We are seeking an Application / Quality Assurance Analyst (Intern) to join the MSA Media Production Team. The Production Team is responsible for managing software fixes and enhancement requests from our clients. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and writing skills. Prior analysis and/or quality assurance experience is desired. Experience with relational database tools such as SQL Developer, SQL*Plus or MS-Query is a plus.

  • Under close supervision, performs business analysis, use case analysis, develops software requirements, functional specification and designs the user interface (if required) for simple/routine enhancements to be made to existing MSA software products
  • Maintain existing software requirements and functional specification documents in order to keep them up to date with previous changes made to the software, under supervision based on experience level
  • Works on a team with software developers, QA, documentation and client service in order to ensure timely delivery of the software enhancements/ modifications to which they are assigned. Will act as the team lead during the initial stages of the development process for simple enhancements to the software
  • May participate as a team member in process improvement initiatives
  • Has a good understanding of the software products they are involved in as well as the industry that the software is designed to support
  • Begins to contribute to the product planning process for determining enhancements to be included in future releases. Their role in this process is as a contributor and not as a driver of the process
  • Works directly with QA and Application Support to investigate and solve specific clients application issues. This requires the use of various database access tools and their overall knowledge of the application
  • Perform quality assurance testing on improvements and enhancements made to MSA software
  • Begin to learn about the overall software development process and how their role fits
  • Read industry related news to stay current with clients/industry
  • Attend on-going training classes to achieve personal, professional and technical improvement
Required Skills
  • Requires 2 or 3 years working towards a four-year degree
  • The ability to begin to interact directly with internal development staff with direct supervision from senior staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including; MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access/MS Query required
  • Software and user interface design skills
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to understand and document business processes
