The Development Analyst will be engaged in the assessment, planning and design of technology solutions in support of the business operations for the Commercial division of the AES US Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This position will work closely with commercial users, business analysts and other technology team members to:
1.Define the business and commercial user requirements.
2.Drive the design of the technology solutions to meet the defined requirements.
3.Validate final technology solutions and ensure the associated design is compliant with the SBU system architectural standards and aligned with business strategies and goals.
The Development Analyst will be involved in the full life cycle of the system solutions and responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting applications software that is delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, this individual will make recommendations related to the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations.
Under general direction, this individual:
1.Works with users to determine system requirements.
2.Participates as the high level technical expert in design, development, coding, testing, and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software.
3.Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and develops specifications to resolve them.
4.Resolves end user complaints and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
5.Participates in the development of user manuals.
6.May act as team leader on less complex projects.
7.Will code, test, debug and document software changes and enhancements to existing software applications.
8.Other duties as assigned.
•Associates Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred. Emphasis on Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
•3-5 years experience preferred
•Experience in systems analysis, design and a solid understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies
•Expert knowledge in Application development (VB.Net, SQL Server Administration(Role Management), SSRS/SSIS, Transact-SQL, Telerik .Net UI Control knowledge a plus, C/C++ a plus)
•Proficient knowledge in Databases (SQL Server, MS Access, Oracle.)
•Ability to act as team leader/project manager for less complex initiatives
•Strong communications and time management skills
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Highly organized with ability to work on multiple concurrent projects
•Ability to coordinate teams and facilitate discussions with business and IT individuals
•Excellent customer service skills
