Business Unit

The Wafer Inspection (WIN) Division, headquartered in Milpitas, CA, is responsible for providing state of the art patterned wafer inspection systems. WIN has two major product lines: Broadband (or Bright field) 2xxx series and Narrowband (or Dark field) 9xxx series. Both are primarily targeted for patterned wafer inspection application. The Broadband series targets the high-end defect inspection needs like R&D and yield monitoring; while the Narrowband series target the low-end and high speed defect inspection for excursion monitoring.

Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting KLA-Tencor's wafer inspection products.

Includes projects related to new product introduction: characterization, alpha testing, beta testing and pilot tools in the ramp phase. Also, applications engineers are responsible for generating best known method documents and other training material.

Work closely with many organizations including engineering, sales and marketing within K-T and with customer engineers outside K-T.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have completed Bachelors degree and be pursuing Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering before the start of the internship in summer.
  • Candidate MUST be able to make a 6-month commitment between June-December 2012. Preference is given to candidates who will be able to co-op full-time during this 6-month commitment, but candidates available full-time in summer and part-time in fall will also be considered.
  • Background in IC processing/Semiconductor equipment is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-driven, yet a strong team player.
