Merit Full-time Position, Grade 24, Minimum 35 Hours Per Week Monday-SundayClosing Date/Time: Wed. 03/06/13 11:59 PM Eastern Time Online Application Required Performs aquatics supervisor duties as an administrative, technical and supervisory position directing the countywide, year-round aquatic programs and facility operations. Work involves planning, directing and evaluating a diversified program of recreational, instructional and competitive aquatic activities for all ages, ability and interest groups; hiring, recruiting, training and supervising staff; budget responsibilities; and taking the lead role in facility operations, maintenance and development.Essential Job Functions/Other Duties/KASs: Operates and maintains indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities safely and effectively.Communicates understanding and support of organizational goals and programs through actions, spoken and written words; interacts effectively with individuals and groups at all levels; maintains ties with external organizations; keeps all interested parties informed of matters requiring their attention.Prepares and implements the operation budget and CIP for the Aquatics Sections.Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates full-time and part-time employees.Develops and directs diverse aquatic programs for the public.Establishes and implements varied programs and facility policies and procedures.Plans and directs systems implementation and related dedicated training.Directs the collection of all program fees and revenues and processes all expenditures.Prepares management reports; collects, analyzes and evaluates data, and develops conclusions and recommendations. Develops and administers contracts, and procures materials and supplies.Represents the Division to other internal and external government agencies and the general public for all matters of aquatic recreation. Other DutiesPerforms related work as required.Knowledges, Abilities and Skills (These are pre-employment KASs that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of--- Accounting principles and preparation of statistical reports for attendance and finances.- Effective techniques of supervision.- Recreation philosophy, planning and administration.Ability to--- Design and implement an aquatics budget.- Prepare financial reports and statements.- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others encountered in the work.- Manage staff, daily operations including the physical plant, program and policy development and implementation.- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.- Deal effectively with the public.
