Brief Description of Duties The Area Coordinator (AC) serves in a collaborative role with the Department of Housing and Residence Life staff in overall program development and works collaboratively with the Director and Associate Director for Residence Life, Assistant Director for Housing, Housing central staff, Hall Staff, along with other campus colleagues to further develop and strengthen the residential program. Additionally, the AC provides comprehensive oversight of 4-5 residence halls and their staff with approximately 900-1100 students.
The AC position is a 12 month full-time, live-on position with on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.

Maintain accurate records of all programs implemented by Residence Hall Staff.
Oversight of 4-5 residence halls housing with approximately 900-1100 students in first-year and upper-class halls
Supervise 4-8 professional staff members.
B. Discretion and Independence of Actions
Evaluation, hiring, and development of staff and student leaders
Evaluation of building facility issues
Monitor and assist in student academic progress for students and staff living in assigned area
Develop and assess Learning Outcomes for the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
Track data attained from assessing Learning Outcomes and prepare reports for review by the Department of Housing and Residence as well as the University Assessment Committee.
C. Instructional
Staff training and presentations for over 100 students
Informal outreach and academic advising of students in assigned living area
Work together to develop and implement programs for participants of the Living Learning Communities and thematic floors.
D. Create and cultivate a relationship between Housing and Residence Life and those listed offices.
Coordinate and assist with Departmental administrative processes and collateral projects such as in-services, marketing, training, selection, opening/closing, diversity initiatives, etc.
Create, plan, and implement programming budgets for Residence Hall Staff.
Maintain accurate records of all programs implemented by Residence Hall Staff.
Assist with the development of a programming model when needed. Notify Professional Hall Staff when programming model is not followed Resident Assistants.
Track data for residence life programming and prepare annual reports for Assessment.
Oversight of 4-5 residence halls housing with approximately 900-1100 students in first-year and upper-class halls
Supervise 4-5 professional staff members
Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications) Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree and lived on campus.

2-3 years of professional experience within student affairs required. Ppreferred experience in Housing and Residence Life. 2 years of graduate work within housing and residence life will be counted as one year of professional experience.

Previous experience in residence life and in student leadership roles while attending their undergraduate institution is strongly preferred.

Masters degree in Higher Education, Counsleing or related field and previous residence life experience is strongly preferred.
Desired Education/Experience/Skills (Additional Qualifications)
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Has or able to obtain a valid NC driver's license
