13/03 Assistant/Associate Professor Interdisciplinary Studies - Posted Jul 26, 2012 Healthcare & Nursing Informatics in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Emporia State University is seeking applicants at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank (three positions) for twelve-month, tenure-track appointment. The faculty members will be charged with developing the curriculum and teaching in the new program. A PhD is preferred, but ABD will be considered. The ideal candidates will possess subject expertise in one or more of the following areas of healthcare and nursing informatics: theories and processes of information storage and retrieval and/or information management and use; imaging, databases, data mining, and/or networking; outcomes management in clinical decision support as it relates to informatics applications; and social aspects of design and evaluation of information systems.
Other subject areas will be considered. A record of effective teaching, proven publication record, and experience in management are preferred. Candidates for this position should be interested in developing healthcare and nursing informatics curriculum offerings in theoretical foundations, healthcare informatics, healthcare information systems and technology, or design and evaluation of user interfaces for healthcare professionals. The responsibilities of the position include teaching within the healthcare and nursing informatics graduate program in both the traditional class setting and the online environment; assisting the program director in setting goals; engaging in scholarly activity on a continual basis; serving as a member of the program and university committees; maintaining current knowledge in the healthcare informatics profession through active participation in professional organizations; and evaluating and advising students.
