The Game Studio at Champlain College seeks an engaged artist and educator with a passion for game media looking to share their knowledge and professional experience through teaching in the fields of game art and animation. You will be joining a studio-style cohort of degree programs in a multidisciplinary setting: game art, game design, game programming, and production management – all separate degrees within the Game Studio. Our team-oriented faculty comes from a broad base of industry and academic backgrounds, and our programs are ranked nationally by the Princeton Review. Game Art faculty responsibilities include curriculum and program development, instruction and enrichment, student advising and industry outreach. Champlain College’s Division of Communication and Creative Media services approximately 850 undergraduate and graduate students in cutting-edge BS, BFA and MFA programs devoted to Graphic Design and Digital Media, Digital Filmmaking, Game Design, Game Art & Animation, Professional Writing, Creative Media, Public Relations, Broadcasting and Streaming Media, Emergent Media and Communication.
This position requires a minimum of 3 years of professional game-industry experience in the field of art and/or animation for games, with thorough knowledge of game-art pipelines, digital art-tools, the game production process and 3d game engines. Must have a highly developed understanding of color theory, lighting, texture, form and proportion as well as a strong aesthetic sense and the ability to critique. Evidence of a traditional art-background is highly desired, mastery of 3d software is required.
A terminal degree in a creative field and evidence of effective teaching preferred, but not required. Rank is contingent upon the qualifications of successful candidate. All candidates will be requested to provide samples of their work for review by the search committee.
The successful candidate should be able to help build intercultural understanding and demonstrate multicultural perspectives that can foster a diverse and inclusive community both inside and outside of the classroom.
